Kanata Midget AAA hangs on, beats OHA U17 Midget AAA 1-0

The Kanata Midget AAA Lasers beat the OHA U17 Midget AAA OHA U16, 1-0, in a contest where the winning goal was scored in the first period but the game remained close throughout.

Kanata Midget AAA took over the lead for good with a goal by Mack Miller at 4:29 in the first period. Bennett Stockdale assisted on the tally.

The Lasers were led by Miller, who registered one goal.

Kanata Midget AAA put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow OHA U17 Midget AAA to score on any of its four power plays. The Lasers were held below their usual level of production. Kanata Midget AAA puts an average of 3.4 pucks into the net per game. The Lasers featured an improved defense during the game. Kanata Midget AAA averages 2.3 goals allowed per game.

In addition, Kanata Midget AAA received assists from Adam Church, who had one.

The OHA U16 excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. OHA U17 Midget AAA’s offense operated below its season average. The OHA U16 average 2.4 goals per game.

Cameron Scott made 15 saves for the Lasers on 15 shots. Kanata Midget AAA incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Tyler Caseley rejected 21 shots on goal for OHA U17 Midget AAA. The OHA U16 incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors.
