Pembroke Midget AAA uses shootout to best Gloucester Midget AAA, 2-1 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Pembroke Midget AAA Lumber Kings defeated the Gloucester Midget AAA Rangers in a shootout 2-1 (1-0 SO).

The shootout featured six attempts between both teams.

The win gave Pembroke Midget AAA a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

The Lumber Kings overcame a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Pembroke Midget AAA trailed 1-0 after a goal by Gloucester Midget AAA’s Nicolas Seguin at 4:44 in the second period. The Lumber Kings tied things up at 1-1 on a power play goal by Payton Jardine at 13:46 in the second period.

Pembroke Midget AAA was led by goalie Jake Smith, who finished with 27 saves while allowing one goal. Despite the solid performance, Smith will actually see his goals against average rise, as it stood at 1.09 entering the contest.

More assists for Pembroke Midget AAA came via Brad Richardson, who had one.

In addition, Gloucester Midget AAA received assists from Sean Rakowski and Connor Noonan, who contributed one each.

The Lumber Kings incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Jean-Sebastien Gratton made 20 saves for the Rangers on 21 shots. Gloucester Midget AAA incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
