Hockey Operations

Head Coach- Alex Armstrong

Alex Armstrong purchased the Pembroke Lumber Kings in the summer of 2019 from Dale McTavish.  Like many Junior A owners, Armstrong has taken on role of head coach and general manager of the club.  After playing with the Brockville Braves of the Central Canada Hockey League, Armstrong moved into coaching following his playing career. He has coached the Trenton Sting and Smiths Falls Bears and also had assistant coaching roles with the Hawkesbury Hawks, the Braves and the Royal Military College in Kingston.

Assistant Coach - Mike Bredlaw

Mike Bredlaw will begin his second year as an assistant coach with the Lumber Kings in the 2020-21 season.  Bredlaw had planned to be the head coach of the Junior B Whitewater Kings, but he was called back to the Junior A team after another assistant coach left the team to pursue a head coaching position. Bredlaw has previous Junior B head coaching experience with the Renfrew Timberwolves.

Goalie Coach - Mavric Parks

Mavric Parks played one season with the Pembroke Lumber Kings in 2006-07 before spending four years in the Ontario Hockey League as a goaltender with Kitchener, Barrie and Saginaw.  After completing his junior career, the Eganville native attended the University of Prince Edward Island where he played varsity hockey and then spent years playing professionally.  He joined the Lumber Kings coaching staff in the 2019-20 season.

Trainer/Equipment Manager- Rodney Stewart

Rodney Stewart is the Lumber Kings trainer and equipment manager.  He joined the club a couple of years ago in a role that his father, Dennis Stewart, held for many years with the Lumber Kings in the 1970's and 80's.

Strength and Conditioning Coach - Kevin McKinnon

Whitewater Kings Head Coach-Jason Gould

Jason Gould is coming home to coach the Whitewater Kings in the 2020-21 season.  Gould, who grew up in the area coached the Renfrew Timberwolves last season guiding them to a 25-14-5 record. He has been coaching at various levels of hockey for the past 14 years.  He played Junior B hockey in both Renfrew and Shawville.

Under-18 Head Coach - Corey Smart

Corey Smart was announced as the new head coach of the Lumber Kings U-18 team in May of 2020. Smart has coaching experience at various levels of hockey and also has experience playing at the Junior A level have played three seasons with the Kanata Lasers in the late 1980's and early 90's.
